Marc Prud’homme

Marc Prud’homme

Marc is a long-time friends of the velofix team and we’re happy to have him as an ambassador. He’s an amazing triathlete, with an ever better story of perseverance and dedication. You’ll often find Marc at local events, and volunteering at the velofix van. Be sure to come say hi and meet him. Despite his strong build and competitiveness on race day – you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone as approachable, supportive, and inspirational as Marc.

Marc served Canada as an infantry within the Royal Canadian Regiment for the last 12 year. Although his military career is very important to him, he has the perfect balance between, work, training, friends and family life.

Three years ago, he was lucky enough to survive a bicycle crash that almost took his life. After a successful shoulder reconstructive surgery, and many other difficulties, Marc became stronger and faster than every. He’s looking to qualify for the 2017 World Military Games, the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, Olympic Distance World Championships, and hopes to one day compete at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Lisa Balerna

Lisa is our local hero! You can catch her on the local duathlon scene, the SJAM parkway, or in Gatineau Park. A regular on the Somersault series as an athlete and a volunteer, Lisa is first to lend a hand and often first in her age group. She’s consistently top female in the Championship Series and even placed 3rd in her age group at World Duathlon Championships a few years ago.

Lisa was our very first ambassador and we’re happy to have her on the team for our 3rd consecutive year!

New Hours: 6am to 10pm, 7 days a week

At velofix Ottawa, we’re always looking to make our service more convenient. Over the past years our most popular tune up time slots were early mornings and late evenings. After talking to a large number of Ottawa cyclists, we found that you wanted your bikes serviced before and after work, and that there was a demand for earlier starts and later finishes. Effective immediately, we open at 6am and close at 10pm – 7 days a week. With 112 hours of availability per week, we hope to help you Save Time and Ride More. To book a bike repair, service, or tune up, visit www.velofix.com and enter your postal code into the “BOOK YOUR SERVICE” field. Read More

Meet your Mechanic – Mat!

We’d like to officially welcome Mathieu (Mat) to the velofix Ottawa Team! As we continue to grow, we’re always looking for the right people to bring onboard. Mat has been a longtime friend and worked with Adam for several years – before the days of bike tune ups and velofix. Despite Mat being a mountain biker, and Adam being a triathlon, the two got along really well and kept in touch. When Adam launched his first mobile repair shop in Ottawa, Mat was one of the very first customers. In fact, Mat actually helped build the interior of the first van (which is lovingly named Lola). With a strong passion for cycling, many miles logged, and a fun-loving attitude, we brought Mat on as our first ambassador. He road… Read More

The Home & Garden Show – with Elby

As the warmer weather rolls in, our calendar starts to fill up with events and races! Our next event is the Ottawa Home & Garden Show from March 23rd to 26th at the EY Centre. We’ll be there with our velofix van and the team from Elby.   Elby is a new e-bike (electric bike) that can give you a boost to get from point A to point B. All Elby bikes have built in fenders, lights, bell and kickstand – making it a great commuter. It also has a battery life of up to 135 km and charges in less than 5 hours – making a great way to get around Ottawa. Elby comes in 5 different colors, and we’ll have most of them on site next week.
